Does UC Berkeley accept Interfolio? ›

Setting Up a Letter File

Berkeley Career Engagement no longer maintains a Letter Service and most Berkeley grad students/postdocs utilize an outside vendor such as Interfolio.com.

Expect to or hold a bachelor's degree or recognized equivalent from an accredited institution. A satisfactory scholastic average, usually a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 (B) on a 4.0 scale; and. Enough undergraduate training and/or professional experience to do graduate work in your chosen field.

The acceptance rate for the program was 36% for the 2021-2022 year. The UC Berkeley Graduate Division requires that international applicants submit TOEFL or IELTS scores. Two letters of recommendation are required for the program.

One letter must be written by an academic teacher or instructor. The second letter can be written by anyone the student selects, ideally someone who knows them well. Examples include a second teacher, college adviser or counselor, a coach, employer, clergy, etc.

The majority of students starting at Berkeley in the fall of 2022 had a high school GPA of a 3.75 or higher. In fact, 90.6% of enrolled students had a high school GPA above 3.75.

It depends on the type of program you are applying to.

Still, to generalize and provide a rough estimate, a good GPA is something between 3.0 to 3.5. It goes way higher for top graduate schools and their premier programs.

UC has a specific way to calculate the grade point average (GPA) it requires for admission. California applicants must earn at least a 3.0 GPA and nonresidents must earn a minimum 3.4 GPA in all A-G or college-preparatory courses to meet this requirement.

UC does not require (nor read) letters of recommendation at the time of application. A campus may ask for them later as part of a supplemental review, so be sure to check your email.

All recommendations must be submitted using the online application system as recommenders are required to respond to specific evaluation questions on the recommendation form. Letters of recommendation cannot be mailed, emailed, faxed, or submitted through a letter service (with the exception of Interfolio).
